Lyminalkin is a multimedia storytelling vehicle where handcrafted puppets come alive through various animation techniques,
spoken stories, original soundscapes and the wild, rural landscapes that we co-inhabit.
Beginning as a series of stand alone short animations,
each vignette will be woven into a traditional Story Circle.
Through these stories we explore
innocence and experience,
guardians, tricksters and wanderers,
story arcs and archetypes
impermanence and perennialism,
interpersonal and community dynamics,
eldership, exile and belonging,
all as carriers of ancestral wisdom.
This project is deeply connected to Place and the settings are found in and around the forested mountains of the Appalachian river valley that we call home. These wild places naturally invite reverent participation and we express this by building the sets with practices ancient to our relationship with Earth such as land art and temple-tending.
These spaces will be the dwellings where the Lyminalkin live out their moments and offer their seeds of good medicine.
